Unfortunately no, gconf is not my strong point. I was asked to submit
this as a bug so it could be added. But my knowledge of gconf is
"limited"

the updated version didn't go to the archive then, it breaks when using
gdmflexiserver --xnest on my desktop so I'll not upload it again for now

I've reverted the change, it breaks login in some case, the gconf daemon
complains that the directory /var/lib/gconf/users/USER/ can't be created
