Could you try to start a terminal and enter this command: alsamixer -D hw:Headset ...then turn the speaker volume as loud as you like. If that does not help, also check the volumes on the "applications" tab in gnome-volume- control. -- no sound after changing settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/
