The takeaway is that it may be nothing. See if the output of:
cat /sys/devices/platform/coretemp*/temp1_crit
has changed from 10.04 to 10.10. If so, it's probably just noise and

After little testing for last couple of days, I've discovered that on my
system maverick kernel show CPU temperature about 20 degrees of Celsius
higher, than with lucid or any older kernels.

I've also downgraded, but I downgraded to kernel 2.6.31-02063113-generic
#02063113 SMP Fri Jun 4 19:02:37 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux, and everything
is working much better! Not only is my temperature cooler, but my load
stays low, unlike the maverick kernel where my load hovered close to
1.0!

Hello, I've tested the new version of kernel 2.6.35-22, which ships through
update manager in Maverick.
However, the bug still remains.

Some other bugs were duplicates of this one. So I've marked them as
duplicates of this one. This is a clear bug that affects many. Please
mark the importance high for this bug and fix it. The guess is that it
is a problem with the Maverick released 2.6.35-22 kernel.

Update: an update for kernel 2.6.35-22 is available for Maverick. I

I think I found a solution:
I found that if we instead use the 2.6.32-25-generic kernel released
with Ubuntu 10.04, the sensors work fine. They don't work on Maverick's
2.6.35-22-generic kernel. So the bug should be on the kernel. I am
guessing this should affect the new kernel 2.6.35 releases on

So, it seems to be rather kernel bug, than lm-sensors bug. Maybe it
would be to fill the bugreport to some k
I too can confirm this bug. On my laptop, Dell Latitude D620, I have a
temp on both cores of 61C, and cannot seem to get it lower than that.
My fans also continously run a full speed.

I can confirm this bug, too. On my laptop FS Esprimo M9400 I have temp
on both of my cores about 75 - 80 C. However, fan is OK. In comparison
with lucid, I have temp about 55 - 60C. So, I think that my lm-sensors
are showing temp about 20C higher than it's in real.

I confirm this bug. The same is with me. In fact at the time of upgrade
from Lucid Lynx, the upgrade for the Toshiba temperature sensor driver
fails. I believe the sensors for the core temperature modules are also
failing.
Another thing is that while Ubuntu has made significant progress in
