I just tested this and it works fine for me too now. I'd love to know
why this happened, but it seems to have departed as mysteriously as it
arrived.

I just tested the Tribe-4 Ubuntu alternate amd64 candidate, and this is
the first time when it didn't hang. This needs some more confirmation,
though.

What should happen is that the menu should function as normal, offering
the user the chance to open another shell, run grub, reboot, etc.

Confirmed here in VMWare/i386 with Feisty beta candidate 20070322.1,
with exactly the same symptoms as in the original description. The
rescue shell worked fine, but upon returning to the menu, there was no
response at all to the up/down arrow keys. Switching to vt2 worked, and
