the Pidgin PPA. Run "Update Manager" and should be provided with the
latest version of Pidgin currently available from the official PPA.

@panopticon, Thanks, that plugin was disabled on my pidgin for some
reason. However my pidgin says its 2.6.6, are you using Lucid provided
version of Pidgin ?

I had the same issue until I went to Tools > Plugins > Voice/Video
settings and put everything to "Default".
Pidgin (2.7.1) has not crashed since.
