If I run fbset -a 1024x768-75, then all the virtual terminals work, and
when I shut down, I saw part of the usplash shutdown, but when the
computer reboots, the splash screen doesn't work and the terminals have
the same problems as before (blank screen).

I am having the same problem on my Apple G4 Quicksilver, however, I
can't seem to get the splash screen to work even after recompiling the
kernel with riva, the screen just goes dark until gdm starts (it was
white before I recompiled the kernel). I have tried reinstalling
usplash, but it doesn't se
I've verified that I can successfully use the install CDs for Dapper and
Edgy if I boot from a kernel that includes rivafb.
