I made the two above changes on my Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad X60 laptop. The result was 10 seconds gained on boot time. I also tried this on an older whitebox, with 512MB memory and a P4 1.4 Ghz proc. and only saw a boot up time increase of 5 seconds. -- Bootup is consistently faster when readahead i
