This bug is not Invalid. I have had the EXACT same problem since Lucid
Alpha 2. My Sound applet has all volumes at max and nothing muted. I'm
not sure what the "mixer" is, but I have sound in rhythmbox and in
Nautilus when hovering over sound files. I just did full update to lucid
full release tod
it was muted in the mixer. Seems that per application mixer settings in
gnome are persistent.

the bug is weird since totem uses gstreamer for playing, do you get the
issue on any example or only the mp3 ones?
