I didn't find mainline kernels for lucid, but I upgraded the laptop to maverick instead (I had to do that anyway). With the default kernel 2.6.35-10-generic in maverick the laptop boots properly now. -- Kernel crashes during boot on Dell E5410 (ironlake) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/584843 You

I'm travelling this week and I don't have the dell laptop with me. I'll test mainline kernels again next week when I'm back home. Manoj, you changed the status of this bug from Triaged to Incomplete? Was it by accident maybe? -- Kernel crashes during boot on Dell E5410 (ironlake) https://bugs.la

Looks like the patches are upstream SHAID 1afe3e9d4335bf3bc5615e37243dc8fef65dac8f. I tried to apply them to latest Luid, but it needs a back port of other drm pathes like BSD ring buffer and vga_switchroo etc. So, this is not going to be an easy backport to lucid. Can you please try if the mainlin

No I looked in 2.6-drm and mainline, looks like the patch did not make it to any standard git tree, unless the patch is upstream we wont be able to SRU them for Lucid. -- Kernel crashes during boot on Dell E5410 (ironlake) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/584843 You received this bug notification

Manoj, thanks for the link. Unfortunately the patch didn't apply to the current linux-2.6 tree because one hunk failed, I guess it depends on other patches. Is there a git tree available which contains the patch in question? I would like to test the patch on my laptop. -- Kernel crashes during bo

Looks like Jesse's patch is not upstream yet, but there seems to be a fix. https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/90684/ will SRU once it hits upstream. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Manoj Iyer (manjo) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Incomplete
