I just noticed that in the log file for AVGuard* in the time frame that
I attempted to shut the computer down, that there were NO entries
showing AVGuard shutting down - just the last files that were scanned,
and then the startup lines for today:

Today, after updating Linux to 2.6.31-22.61 (had been ... .60), not only did
Ubuntu not shut down from the menu item,
which has been the case around 80-90% of the time for a while now, but when I
attempted to do my usual "sudo shutdown -P now" from the cntr-alt-F2 terminal,
that also did not wo
... and the last of four...

Lately, Ubunto doesn't power down from the menu-item.
The countdown window comes up, and then goes away when the count reaches 0 or I
click on "shutdown",
but it doesn't shut down.
If I try to do it again, when it reaches 0 or I click on "shutdown", the window
remains, but the count hangs, and no
Could't get queries to work in debugging, so I upgraded to 10.4LTS.
