This bug is a duplicate of 57701.
The culprit is the UUID=. in fstab, if you use /dev/hd it will show.
The bug is in gnome-vfs-code, hald /etc/fstab and /proc/mount don't use the
same value for the device.

I also make some test, and it for me, it's totaly unrelated to the way
it was partition, but the problem seems to be the uuid stuff.
- When i mount a partition with uuid=*, it shows 2 drive in the desktop
- When i mount the same one with the old /dev/*, it shows one partition in the
desktop.

With the updated description, maybe I should mention that my partitions
are not made with Partition Magic or any of the parted variants, but as
far as I can recall only managed from within Ubuntu and its installers.
Nor are the affected partitions NTFS or FAT, they are both ext3 systems.

I have, showing on the desktop: hdb5, hdd1, Media, Media2 and Windows.
