Timmi, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/
Mint 10 RC, x64 on Toshiba T130-15F.
Brightness cannot be dimmed (although I can see on-screen notifications
when pressing FN+F6/F7) and brightness applet does not work

IMHO I know what causes this problem, kernel increases brightness but
also gnome-power-manager, I am investigating and will post my findings

I've installed the latest Mint9 32bit, and also ordered a new keyboard
to be on the safe side, and brightness is working now, although there
are less intermediate steps between low and high.
However now it is separated into 4 levels - I believe it used to be 10.

don't know if that got lost in the shuffle.

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release
of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains, please
run the following command from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal).
I have reassigned this issue to linux kernel package.
