Ubuntu 10.04 on a Dell Latitude 505 DOES work with kernels up to 2.6.32-20.
Starting with .21 and now .22 the xserver can not get a screen(?) if started

Same thing happened to me;
I upgraded my D505 running 9.10 (perfectly) to 10.04 on reboot the laptop hung
on a black screen once the splash screen had displayed.
I downloaded the ISO of the 10.04 and it does the same thing whether trying to

- the Ubuntu boot logo starts up
- then a flicker and the screen gets black
- Alt-Ctrl F1 up to Alt-Ctrl F12 does not change to a text console => no de
Yep, absolutely the same thing happened to me, but the only difference I
have been trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 on ThinkPad G41.
