I hit this bug when upgrading from 9.10 to 10.04.1. Changing the HomeDirTemplate values did not work, though I tried multiple ways to do it : lw-edit-reg, re-importing *.reg files, purging the confirguration and reinstalling. Packages from the likewise-open PPA did not help either. I fixed this by
