By the way, as Ubuntu 12.04 and 9.10 seem to have the same rinetd
version, I don't expect this is getting fixed any time soon..?

@gustav-kutugutov, you should check that none of the ports that you are
trying to bind to is already open. (SSH/22 seems to be a good candidate
to check.) Also check that all ports you are trying to forward to are
open on the respective host.

happening is that by the time rinetd (probably quite eraly) is starting
it is yet not available, i.e. eth0 is still down or smth.
When I restart rinetd it stops flooding the log.
An
Actually I think nmap was skipping ports above 1024. my bad.

Confirmed fresh install on vmware with Ubuntu Server edition 10.0.4 for
x86.
The default config file does indeed spew an error into the log file.
After editing it doesnt give the error any more but doesnt redirect anything
either.
I also have switched from the stock kernel to a "-virtual" kernel
I cannot confirm this; rinetd works fine here otherwise. But I guess
that really everything must be fine, including the host that you want to
forward to being up and listening on the given port.
