I can confirm
click on a .deb file -> pop-up window ask for root password -> give the
password -> then nothing ..except a box in applications toolbar that
tell me something about Starting Adminis.. . CPU work for few
seconds, box gone, nothing happen.
Strange command line dpkg -i ..always wo
Does not help...
But this bug might be a symptom of

I can't reproduce this probleme here locally. Can you please run:
$ pycentral pkginstall python-apt
and see if that helps?
