I have this same problem with the same laptop. It worked well in 9.10
IIRC, then I had the problem listed here on 10.04.
It is present in a different form in 10.10, 11.04 and 11.10

I tested recent kernels from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/
WIth 2.6.33-020633-generic reboot IS WORKING.
With 2.6.34-020634rc4-generic reboot isn't working.
