I must say, that my troubles is caused by ldap.
I have ldap in /etc/nsswitch.conf
And i have found, that thunderbird don't like ldap (it has open bug since 2005
year).
I use workaround (create equal local user) and thunderbird started.

Thunderbird cannot find libmozjs.so
https://bugs.launchpa
Make some symlinks:
# for a in libmozjs.so libxpcom.so libxpcom_core.so libldap60.so libprldap60.so
libldif60.so libsqlite3.so
do
ln -s /usr/lib/thunderbird-3.0.4/$a /usr/lib/
done
After that i have this error:
$ LANG=C gdb /usr/lib/thunderbird-3.0.4/thunderbird-bin
(gdb) run
Starting program: /u
Confirm bug.
Maybe, this can help.
When i start thunderbirg from usual user:
$ LANG=C thunderbird -g
sh /usr/lib/thunderbird-3.0.4/run-mozilla.sh /usr/bin/gdb
/usr/lib/thunderbird-3.0.4/thunderbird-bin -x /tmp/mozargs.dtx9Xe
GNU gdb (GDB) 7.1-ubuntu
Copyright (C) 2010 Free Software Foundation, Inc
When I use the wrapper script that sets up the environment I do not get
an error message at all. The workaround detailed above also worked for
me -- so I can no longer reproduce the issue to provide more/different
debugging information.

Thunderbird cannot find libmozjs.so
https://bugs.launchpa
How are you trying to run thunderbird when you see this? Running
/usr/lib/thunderbird-3.0.4/thunderbird-bin will definately produce the
error because you're bypassing the wrapper script that sets up the
environment

I tried a whole purge of thunderbird and then a reinstall, didn't
worked. It remind me a similar bug of firefox 1 month ago during the

I came across this bug, because running
$ thunderbird
on the command line terminated immediately without showing a window or
any message at all. So I tried to run
$ /usr/lib/thunderbird-3.0.4/thunderbird-bin
directly, producing the mentioned error message. I found this in my home
directory:
os
