same symptoms for me
after update 9.10 to lucid beta (now updated to RC, bug still persisting)
Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02), special
effects disabled.
machine : Fujitsu/Siemens E4010
X crashing mostly when scrolling in FF, approx 1/hour.
no crash after tw
I believe I'm seeing similar behaviour after upgrading a box from karmic
to lucid yesterday. No fix way to reproduce but does seem to be happen
when windows are being moved/opened or when switching screens. This
machine is not using compiz (low spec).
