The red light is the optical digital audio output. You can toggle it on
and off. I cannot test exactly where to go to do this right now, but I'd
imagine that you can do it in System > Preferences > Sound
I don't know that this will help with your overall problem though.

Hello this bug also affects realtekk alc889a chipset in gigabyte
motherboards. Surfing the net almost all hda sound card's are affected
also mostly all laptops who have hda oudio. independent which manifactor
. Intel, asus , realtek .. There is not one off the proposed options
to solve this pro
