The bug is probably fixed in hardy. I had this bug in the past and this
is fixed, but I forgot this bug repport (and closed other related to
this).

Hi, I've made a meta-bug to keep track of all these Texas Card Reader
bugs - please help me by using it to close duplicates, and get new bugs
to search for duplicates. The meta-bug is Bug #180076. Please mark this
bug 'new' again and make a note if you can't find a duplicate - maybe
it's been fixed
everything works here after running manually the following command from
Konsole:
sudo setpci -s nn:nn.n 4c.b=0x02 (of course I had to replace the "n"
with the Mass storage controller device number visible from "lspci", in my case
it is: 02:06.3 )
with the previous kubuntu stable release everyt

my LG LW20

I found a partial workaround using
sudo setpci -s 06.3 4c=0x22
Then when I insert the card the driver react again to the insertion:
