The problem was a self installed fglrx that wasn't updated for the new
kernel.

Someone from ubuntu-x irc channel helped me nick . i didnt know
that after kernel update if im using propriety driver from ati website i
need to install that driver again. So i did it and everything is working
fine in 2.6.31.21 pae and generic.
