Same problem on Macbook 5,1 Unibody on Precise. Sometime it works (maybe
after poweroff) but most of the time does not. Maybe there is a reset
missing for the device.

I have a Samsung RV511 running ocelot, with a USB BCM2046 bluetooth
dongle.
I can confirm that upon hotplugging the dongle, lsusb shows that device
is registered, however as other have pointed out, hcitool scan returns:
"Device is not available: No such device". I also experienced the issue

I have a Dell Mini 10 (1012), and it has BCM2046 bluetooth, too. It sees
other bluetooth devices but always fails to connect.
The sanning works (it sees my samsunk c3050 phone):
$ hcitool scan
Scanning ...
60:D0:A9:8B:B8:13 C3050
$ hcitool dev

I've got a Lenovo Y450 with the same problem, looks like the same
adapter.
