Lucid is no more a supported version; and recent lbproxy have solved
that issue

libproxy 0.2.3 did not have capabilities to read authentication
information from the gnome configuration.
This was added in the 0.4.0 release and newer. Suggest your distribution
to update to 0.4.4.
