Public bug reported: As the summary says, I cannot connect to the internet when I use "Automatic (DHCP)" configuration in IPv4 settings within the network manager. But, when I use "Automatic (DHCP) addresses only" and type in my DNS addresses manually, I can browse the internet at full speed.
This problem did not occur in jaunty, and I suspect it is because the Broadcom driver or the Network manager Applet. What's interesting is that when I connect to the internet using my Windows Mobile device (via RNDIS), I don't need to make any changes to the settings and I always able to browse the net normally. This problem not only prevents me from browsing using firefox, but the other apps and commands, such as ping, Update Manager, etc don't work. They just stalled as if they are waiting for the server's reply forever (speed: 0 KB/s, Connecting... but not Transferring Data) This problem occurs in both Karmic and Lucid Beta 1 (currently using lucid beta 1) but not in windows or any ubuntu versions before karmic (including jaunty) Driver used : Broadcom STA driver from "Hardware Drivers" applet WLAN card : Broadcom 54g wireless LAN Suspected packages : Broadcom STA driver packages (don't know which one to put) and/or GNOME network-manager Please see my video for a live preview ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Cannot browse the internet without entering DNS addresses manually https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/547051 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
