I can confirm that contrast between window background and buttons draws
strongly user attention. If that was intentionally, please consider
using lighter colour inside buttons while leaving darker outline.

I agree that the buttons are too dark. There's certainly not enough
contrast for my old eyes on the bottom panel.
Does that patch work with that latest update to Radiance? I couldn't
seem to find the section indicated.

Totally agree on that.
After playing around with the gtkrc of Radiance I've found a setting
which looks good imho (see the attachment) and is more consistent with
the buttons used in the software center.
I just added the following settings to the `style "button" = "wider"`-section:

I second that the buttons are too dark for me, making their labels hard
to read. Whats more, they seems like the disabled buttons to me - but
that is only my personal impression and others may be perfectly fine
with that.
