I'm not sure what you're implying. The main repository was frozen long
ago, and alsa-base only contains scripts and documentation. Perhaps
you're looking for linux-alsa-driver-modules-$(uname -r) from
ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev?

This is live-usb, made from Lucid beta CD image with karmic usb-creator.
Initial description and apport-collect information is about Asus A8Sr
laptop.
I've also tested it on my EeePC 900 with another hda intel card.
This time both mic output controls were present. But "input source" was also
