Actually yes, it is. When you install a fresh Kubuntu system, go to systemsettings/appearance where the font settings are and logout and login again, it looks a lot worse. The default settings on a new system are RGB subpixel hinting and slight hinting (just like Ubuntu with GNOME, and it looks bes
