Geoff123, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? I believe I have the same problem with my HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook, GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M. The image is stretched vertically and the lines are jumbled and confusing. The bottom image is not displayed because it is off the screen. Detected resolution is 1024x768, but should be 1280x800.

I have a similiar problem with a GeForce 8400GS and a Samsung SyncMaster screen. The correct resolution is 1440x900x60, but it is detected as 1024x768x60, which is quite unacceptable. With the binary nVidia driver, I can use a custom Modeline to force the correct mode. This has always worked well,
