Hi,
I also have this experience with Thunderbird. The CPU load is about 50%, which
causes heating of the CPU on my notebook. I have installe dUbuntu 7.04 and
configured IMAP account only. This happens when I do nothing;) I have my
thunderbird allways running because I use e-mails often. Right no
marking as fixed, as per user comments.

Ok I'll look out for it.
BTW I've moved to Feisty now and have not noticed this issue on TB.
Before I moved I hadn't experienced the issue again since the upstream
patch was applied. I think that must have solved it.

Hi Dan,
Gutsy now has Thunderbird v2.0 which may well have resolved this. Please
let us know if you have a chance to install gutsy for testing. In the
near future. The first alpha CD should be out in about a week. You could
run that live and just install Thunderbird in the live session.

I swapped to Evolution as my main client!! :D
However, I do still use TB with a different profile which has only got
POP accounts in it, my old main profile was almost all IMAP. I've never
experience the problem with
Munckfish,
do you still experience this problem?
If so, can you please tell me what you were doing when cpu load went up

Is this still an issue? The Mozilla bug is marked as resolved; has the
change successfully propagated to Ubuntu's Thunderbird packages?
Thanks!

Experiencing this too. For me it seems to happen specifically when the
address book is being explicitly opened, or implicity accesed by type-
ahead when entering addresses. Planning on running this through a
profiler asap.

Ok here's the threadlist:
UIDPID PPID LWP C NLWP STIME TTY STAT TIME CMD

The dump from gdb is too large to post in a comment I think. If and when
it's needed I can mail it.

I also have caught Thunderbird using 100% cpu, no idea if it's related
or not, and will similarly be happy to provide debugging information if
someone points me towards how to get it.
