I'll give it a try. Would updating be the same thing ?
It does look like the bios enables acpi 1 then the plug and play. Could I
specify a particular irq for the cardbus ?

I added that at the beginning and did a Ctrl-X boot but still no sound.
It still says can't find IRQ for PCI INT B. Maybe something is grabbing it
that I can disable or uninstall.
