Hello,
thanks for comment, I was afraid my report just faded away.
I've upgraded to Natty and made a little research on my own. The bug is still
there. I've tried three different programs:
gedit 2.30.4
evince 2.32.0
file-roller 2.32.2
All behave the same in regards to sftp access.
Consider I have
** Package changed: gedit (Ubuntu) => gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu)
** Changed in: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu)
Status: Incomplete => New

No, Eye Of Gnome 2.28.1, Totem 2.28.2, Gimp 2.6.7 are also affected.

are you getting that issue only with gedit? could you try with any other
app that uses the gtk file chooser?
