[Bug 52874] Re: fast user switching with ldap and autofs = bad

2006-10-04 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Niall, you have a similar setup like I have (~2 users), and user- switching is disabled here. Do the same. Rejecting the bug, as there already is a way to fix this site-wide (gconf-setting). ** Changed in: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Rejected -- fast user switch

Niall: Just set user-switching to disabled in the gconf mandatory database. Here's an example: http://www.gnome.org/learn/admin-guide/latest/gconf-8.html -- fast user switching with ldap and autofs = bad https://launchpad.net/bugs/52874 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.co

Ping? This is actually a serious problem. I really don't like it when a lot of machines try to mount, read and access several thousand home directories whenever their users unlock their screensavers, especially when the network in question is pretty large and distributed. This places unnecessary

Please file this bug in upstream fast-user-switch-applet and gdm. Or file it with upstream gnome-screensaver and I'll help out. We've made attempts to make this work correctly but if you have more than a hundred users you should probably turn user-switching off. Also see: http://bugzilla.gnome.
