Sounds like what I'm finding. I have just done a completely fresh
install of Kubuntu 10.04, to dual-boot, on a spare partition in my
VectorLinux box. On first, and every subsequent boot of Lucid I am
unable to do a grapical login. Initially I though it was a login fault
but on switching to tty02
Same problem here. I make accidently a interessant discover. My
girlfriend can connect without any problem on her account. So maybe a
problem with a booting program, but I cannot detect wich one.
startx on kde is ok.

I have been having a similar problem in Kubuntu 9.10 since the late
April updates. Another problem occurred at the same time and somewhat
obscured this, but I have now resolved that, leaving the kdm bug. It
seems to be due to kdm judging from the logs, .Xsession-errors in
particular. However the
I am having a somewhat similar experience in Lucid. This is on a laptop
with non-standard and not fully known hardware, 7 years old and sold in
South Africa under a name I couldn't find elsewhere (euroTeK).
What happens is that kde installs, but login fails in exactly the same
way as described her

The problem is just when i try to login a kde session. It's only a black
screen that lasts a second and then i'm again at the login screen. I
dont know how to print a screenshot before login in. i can take a photo
with my camera, but i believe it wouldnt be helpful.
