Still not supported with intrepid
Non-english novice users could find this really annoying, why can't this be
fixed?

Another vote for this one since Hardy has also not fixed this bug.
Current workaround for Wikipedia search plugin in German:
Browse to the German Wikipedia page, search for something and and look for the
search bar area in Firefox. There you should see that the drop-down
arrow/buttom is highligh
I also thinks it's very important, especially when you have it when
installing firefox with the good locale on Windows

I also vote for this. When installing a german version of Edgy I have
search engines like answers.com which are just not applicable for (many)
german users. And the wikipedia plugin searches the english wikipedia.
