Is this bug on both Karmic and Lucid. Having the same problem here on
Lucid. I cant even use alt+f2 to manual launch an application.

I have a same problem here, and after I create a new user on my laptop
and use new user to login system, I still only get a null desktop
without any panel.

The twitter feed @ubuntustatus directed people who were having trouble
with gnome-panel and nautilus to this bug, apparently inaccurately.

same problem here, but in my case disappeared after installing nautilus,
rhythmbox and after restart, all gnome disappeared, leaving only the
wallpaper

Came across this posting- I have the same problem, except on a Fedora 12
system. Intermittently, the gnome-panels do not appear on login, even
though the process is running. Perhaps it's a problem with gnome that
is OS agnostic.
