It seems to be fixed for me however using the RT kernel plymouthd seems
to crash on boot and shutdown.
It normally reads
"Plymouthd was terminated by KILL signal"

grub loads and i choose ubuntu 10.04 than i press enter. ubuntu loads .
if i touch any keyboard button while booting it crashes.
after boot keyboard doesn't work.

I have it, and I can see it starting to happens as Scroll-lock starts to light,
it will crash a minute later.
But only x, after the crash happened once it will stay stable the rest of the
day.
As the other guy said, once a new login has been done the problem is gone.

Well lets see what we know so far:
1. Its xorg crashing when this happens
2. Logging in without enter and then logging back out without the enter key
seems to temporarily fix the crash
3. Changing the Keyboard preferences Seems to fix it.

Pressing the enter key also crashes my Dell Latitude D620 running the
10.04 Alpha 2, however logging out and/or changing the keyboard
preferences fixes the problem. Fully updated as of February 14th.

I agree that it is not a solution however it is the best that is out
there currently until we get a response from Ubuntu or xorg team on why

Well, that's not a solution. I expect my keyboard to function every time
I boot up, and not just when I boot up without using the enter key, then
log out, then log back in. In addition, when I log in, my keyboard
preferences do not stay. My "layouts" section shows just Dvorak (which
is what I insta

However, when I re-booted, the problem came back. And what worked once does NOT
work twice.
I went to preferences / keyboard and the keyboard was already on "asus-laptop."
So I changed it to PC-105 and back to asus-laptop. That seemed to work, at
least temporarily, until I log in again.

I got the return to work by going to preferences keyboard and changing the
keyboard from the default 105 keyboard to "asus-laptop."

as of today with all updates (12 Feb) enter key does not work at all in
any situation. even the login. i have usa keyboard and dvorak activated.
i also switched back and forth between gnome and fluxbox, but that
shouldn't have done anything. i installed fluxbox yesterday and booted
in and out of it
Update:
If you log out and then log back in xorg seems to start to work again.
My enter key works and all. I think the reason is that on start there is
a command or something causing it to break.

changing my keyboard worked as it had me using intel egeneric and then
i switched it back to asus laptop. But after xorg crashed on its own, i
realized that xorg would crash after a indeterminable amount of time and

I am experiencing the same bug. Machine is a Trigem Kloss 915A running a
Pentium 4 3.06 Ghz processor. Have a USB keyboard from an Apple
Macintosh G5 attached, with a wired Apple "Mighty Mouse" of the same
vintage. The system freezes completely as described above upon pressing
either the Enter or R
I personally solved my problem by changing the keyboard type from
"PC-105" to "logitech cordless desktop (wireless)" the keyboard that i
am using!
