try opening the file with vim, you'll see the character, such characters
are used to indicate that the file is a binary so i don't think this is
a bug in the application, rather a broken file. Thanks in advance

Line number 283 was empty, I delete it, then saved changes, gedit opened
the file correctly.
How did you know that it is that line that made the problem? Would you
please give me info? because I have many other files that has the same
issue.

that way? seems the file is identified as a binary because of that

How did You created this file? because your Readme.txt could have a problem
with the format. I copied the text to a new Readme.txt file and works fine.
