I think what happened was the sub-menu was grayed out for me, and it wasn't completely obvious why. It did feel like the kind of bug that you'd have to be nuking a Windows partition from orbit at the time to truly appreciate. The machine is still caught with the sickness, every circuit dreading t

Please, be more explicit. I just tested gparted (on my system, not on the livecd) and I have a submenu 'Format to' to change the filesystem type, which obviously needs to destroy the partition. What you mean is the partition type, the byte which is just an info for partition managers ? Or the fil
