Hi Jérôme,
I have no idea about the latest release of Ubuntu, as I'm still stuck at Dapper
(6.06) - two releases behind the latest. I might try upgrading at some point,
but it might be a while before I get round to it...

Hi aexl,
Sounds like your Intel Pro/Wireless card driver is to blame, and doesn't
support turning off TSO on the fly. You'll probably need to set the
module parameters as in the Fedora forum, but I have no idea what the
parameters should be, or where they should go. Unfortunately, the Fedora

Hi donald,
thank you for your comments. Unfortunately this does not help me:

- in fact i did use sudo (my wrong citation)
$ sudo ethtool -K eth0 tso off
Cannot set device tcp segmentation offload settings: Operation not supported
my network mod
Hi aexl,
In order for the ethtool command to work, you need root privileges. Try
using sudo:
$ sudo ethtool -K eth0 tso off
That should work.
BUT: the more recent patched kernels from Ubuntu do not have that
problem anymore (at least for me). If you make sure your system is up to
date with the

Well that's exactly the kernel image that I'm running: kernel-
image-2.6.15-25-686 (with SMP). The problem is still definitely there
for me. Maybe I should add that I'm using bridged networking, not NAT?
Also, the problem could be dependent on the particular network card and
kernel module used.
I
Well, I've been using VMware on Dapper recently with kernel-
image-2.6.15-25-686 and I haven't experienced any networking problems or
ethernet speed issues. Probably the 686 architecture isn't affected?
