I am affected by the same problem (Ubuntu 9.10 from w/i Parallels
Desktop 5 on a MBP) and tried your suggested fix. It did not correct
the problem for me. Can you give us a pointer to the hinted at upstream
solution (or perhaps another potential work around?)
