here is my setup:
dapper uptodate.
brand new user, with a brand new profile.
i am still unable to sync "todo"
i confirm the following:
if i start gpilotd from command line, it works quite well ( except for the task
that i cannot synch ).
if i start gpilot
did you upgrade to dapper since and tried again?

the machine i discovered the bug on is actually not available anylonger
i am actually working on an older ubuntu system, where synchronisation
is working.
i'll upgrade to dapper and see if i can reproduce the bug, but i won't
be able to do it really soon.

I will install edgy on a spare box soon and test this. I'm hesitant to
upgrade gnome-desktop and its 56 dependencies on this laptop (which is
the one that I discovered the bug on)

I believe this information is related to this bug:
When I start gpilotd manually in a terminal, it runs fine and I never
have a problem syncing. When it is started by opening the app at System
--> Preferences --> PalmOS devices, it syncs fine until I close that
window. Once I close that window,
I wonder if there was something upgraded that caused the problem,
because I cannot sync with Zire 31 after installing Dapper this weekend.
I was using pilot-xfer and jpilot on Debian/Sarge, kernel 2.8.6. I had
a line in the udev rules for it. I checked the source for visor which
said the ID is 6
