Why local issue?
i want to run a old vibra 16 sb card (ISA slot) which does not work on a
new install of edgy.
I get a different error whith edgy up to date. I get binaries from
official repository.
i follow the instruction located here:

I can confirm that I am a 200% ubuntu user ... and never installer other
kernel headers that yhe ones in the repos. Please find here after all
the steps I followed to compile alsa-driver 1.0.11. (Nota: I am trying
to do that because the is no alsa 1.0.11 backported, and I have an intel
(ICH7)/realt

following. FWIW, the steps I used above allow me to compile the alsa-
driver 1.0.11 tarball using Ubuntu kernel headers [linux-headers-$(uname
-r)] successfully.

The version of the HDA driver in the Ubuntu kernel is newer than 1.0.11
