Gaim is single threaded, a segfault in plugin code is entirely able to
take gaim down. There is no way to avoid that.

"gaim -n" works for being able to remove the rhythmbox plugin, thanks.
I had the plugin set to update my away message and had %rb as my away
message.
Whatever configuration I have it shouldn't segfault like this, should
it?

Yeah, this looks like it's crashing in the gaim-rhythmbox plugin. You
may need to recompile it, or it may need to be modified.

start gaim with the -n flag and then unload the gaim-rhythmbox plugin.
