Actually this bug has been fixed for maverick. There is an expander
that shows verbosely what's going on.

What is the current status on this bug?
As far as I can remember, there is no advanced mode for ubiquity yet to
show what it's doing more precisely, but as it is a simple installer
targeted for simple users, this is the right decision.

But comparising to other operating systems (even that from Redmond) was
intended to point out the weak points of software. We should take
advantages of good ideas and not repeat any mistakes.

Your suggestion is appreciated, although in future I'd appreciate it if
you left out the insinuations that the installer is lying and the
comparisons with Windows; they're needlessly inflammatory.
