Because on LiveCD of Ubuntu 9.10 it's the latest version of OpenOffice
(OO). It seems that the repositories haven't got updated and the newer
version of OO entries have become damaged

I have to agree with Chris, there is no OpenOffice.org2 packages in
Ubuntu 9.10 even if you follow the steps shown. May I ask why you want
to install OpenOffice.org 2?

I disagree with you Chris. Do as following to see that it's exist:
* run "Software Sources"
* enable all on the "Ubuntu software" tab
* enable all on the "Updates" tab
* set "Show new distribution release" to "normal release"
* close the "Software Sources with the reloading of package list
* run S
There is no openoffice.org2 package in Ubuntu 9.10 at all, your system
is misconfigured in some way.

Synaptic (after sources update) shows OpenOffice.org2 as latest one...
besides it's all what has shown up as error and there is nothing more...
