I no longer have that computer in my office, but can install ubuntu to a
usb hard drive and run it on one of the lab computers with the same
hardware. I'll try to do that today.

Curtis Lee Bolin, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.32-7-generic
I use tty1-6 a lot and gfxpayload is no longer working with linux-
image-2.6.32-7-generic. It works fine with linux-
image-2.6.32-6-generic.
$ lspci
My home computers all use the open source Radeon driver. When gdm
starts tty1-6 automatically resize to the same resolution as the
xserver. This is nice since it essentially does what I was using
gfxpayload to do before. I don't know exactly what is apply the change
to tty1-6, but at least it wo

Still doesn't work with the newest linux-image-2.6.32-8-generic or
linux-image-2.6.32-8-server. I have tried it on nvidia and ati. I have
also tried it with 'nomodeset'. It doesn't seem to work at all.

@Curtis -- could you confirm the behaviour on 2.6.32-8.12. I see you
have ATI graphics, so if its not working there could you try booting
with 'nomodeset' on the kernel command line too please and report on
that as well. Thanks!
