I can't remember what exactly is the error message that the live CD gave
me, but I had a similar problem. I think the problem is that the drives
are already mounted on the live CD, but since the umask is not set to
0222, only the root user can access the mount point. However, since you

This happens to me consistently on any machine. I cannot believe that no
developer noticed this bug or that it happens only to me. Is there
someone that can say "it works for me"?
However, partitions can still be mounted using "mount".
