Don't know about Lucid - I know that reinstalling XP onto a virtio device
worked.
So Win XP on vda is ok, on hda it's not ok.

Hmm, I don't have access to a Windows XP image, so I can't really
confirm this bug. Can you reproduce this on Lucid's KVM?

If XP is booted from CD and recovery console used to run chkdsk /p ,
errors are found and fixed. On reboot, XP will now start.
If XP is restarted then it will restart OK.
If XP is shutdown, the VM does not power off, stops at "It is not safe
to turn off computer screen". Turn of using VM Shutdow
