The problem of GIMP FREEZING has fully returned in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - Lucid
Lynx.
It is very annoying and happens usually during use of FILTERS, especially DROP
SHADOW.
The point is that it does not happen constantly.
One time it happens with the first photograph,
the other time only until the

The last update to gimp was 2010-01-07. For those still experiencing
this issue in Ubuntu 9.10, please run 'apt-cache policy gimp' in a
terminal and paste the results here. We do still need a backtrace to see
what is failing. Thanks in advance.

I'm using gimp 2.6.7 and after using Drop-shadow, when I want to save
the file it freezes the entire system. I use Ubuntu 9.10... it was
really annoying after 4 crashes and I gave up on gimp filters!

I can also confirm total machine lock-up during the 'drop shadow'. Yes I
can reproduce it, It has happened 4 times in the past 2 hours.
Resetting the whole machine was the only option. At one point, I
recognised failure was in process and was successful in activating the
system monitor and luckily
I am using GIMP v2.6.7-1ubuntu1.1 on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic (kernel:
2.6.31-19-generic). I have found that GIMP will completely lock up the
computer when a user uses processor-intensive tools, such as the
Gradient and Path tools. Zooming into the picture seems to cause the
computer to freeze as well.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:
* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?
This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

I have also noticed that GIMP will crash when using the Path Tool for
any length of time. The whole system will freeze and the user will have
to do a complete restart. (Oddly enough, the mouse can still be moved
though nothing can be clicked.)

I can confirm this defect. When applying drop-shadow, my laptop becomes
unresponsive and the only solution is a forced shutdown (with the power
button). I hope it will be fixed quickly, as GIMP is my main tool for
image manipulation!

I have the same GIMP bug.
EVERYTHING FREEZES no other help than switching on/off the hole system in the
hard way.
Using 9.10 Ubuntu 64 bits and GIMP 2.6.7 on a Medion all in one pc.
VERY ANNOYING !!! Please give some priority to this problem.

I have this same GIMP bug. I use gimp version 2.6.7-1ubuntu1 on Ubuntu

use various brushes, the computer will get slower and slower and and
everything freezes except the mouse. This happens even when there is
